Hand-held Radar
Hand-held radar has targeted millions of motorists. The wide-beam "frequency shift" microwave device was claimed to be a scientific instrument by many enforcement authorities. It is now considered to be inferior to the "distance over time" (infrared pulses) narrow-beam Laser. How many innocent motorists were unfairly "ticketed" by these flawed revenue raising radars?

 Hand-held Radar has been replaced by the Laser Speed Gun in the states of Australia. However some Kustom Falcons may still be used occasionally in Queensland.   Why was the change from Radar Guns to Lasers made? According to the state authorities, because of confusion with target identification when using radar guns. Yet another speed measuring system claimed to be "absolutely accurate" has been replaced by one that is "more" accurate? Huh???

Independent tests by a NASA scientist in the USA suggest that Laser Speed Guns are potentially inaccurate at identifying the correct target under some conditions. That is why enforcers are required to "estimate" the speed of a vehicle before using laser or radar to get a measurement. Does this happen all the time? Does it ever happen?
